In the uncertainty of today’s tourism world, some uncertain feelings remain. This has kept people from gathering together and traveling as much as we’d like. But, the hope as well as the unfailing feeling of wanderlust, discovery and curiosity is still alive. That’s why we are offering you the opportunity to travel from home.
Met by force of a circumstance, two professional agencies are at the origin of Travel from Home –TheWaysBeyond and BeyondRomania. They were soon joined by Sofar, a collective of 5 students in cultural tourism from the Sorbonne University in Paris.
Facing the evidence that everyone needed an escape, our cosmopolitan team, that shares the same vision and passion for travels, created from scratch the Travel from Home Festival, taking place on 20 March 2021
Travel from Home Festival – What is it? Why did we create it?
Travel from Home is the first festival of virtual guided tours. It is totally free of charge and for charity purposes. Born in the deep crisis of Covid-19, it gathers more than 20 passionate guides from all over the world around a team of generous volunteers.
The initial goal of Travel from Home is to create something positive out of the crisis – at this moment, by far the most difficult times in history for the travel industry as well as for the travelers, we want to unite different partners of the travel industry to show our passion, strength, creativity and solidarity, and continue showing travelers how wonderful the world is, how magical the destinations and how diversified the cultures – all this without leaving their home.
We believe that although the industry of tourism is in crisis, others are unfortunately worse off. That is why we decided that all the potential donations will go to a charity organization that realizes the dreams of young patients suffering from long or serious illnesses.
What can you expect from the festival?
On 20 March 2021, the participants can attend several tours during the day, all free of charge. All day long you can choose to discover the Romanian countryside in the morning, learn more about wine tasting and wineries in France and Italy at noon and/or enjoy some Brazilian music in the evening.
We are offering you two different types of virtual tours:
- Single tours: a professional guide will show you through his favorite city!
- Grand Tours: 4 Grand Tours of one hour each will show you 2 to 3 destinations throughout a specific topic!

You won’t have to pack your bags and fasten your seat belts – just get comfy on the sofa with your cups of coffee / dog / beer & crisps! The Travel from Home festival will be the occasion to erase the borders for a moment. It will bring together people from all over the world.
