What to read on your next vacay!

Headed on vacay and want to know what to read next?! Here’s some of our Guide Architects sharing their favorite books to take on your winter vacation.

I like to read books based on wherever I am or by authors that lived there. For example, in Paris, I read “A Movable Feast” by Hemingway or the Harry Potter series in Scotland. I also love Wildsam field guides because they tell stories of the city/place they feature.

I’ve been really enjoying Daphne Du Marier recently! A few favorites are Jamaica Inn, Frenchman’s Creek and Rebecca! Otherwise, if you like historical fiction – The Lost Girls of Paris is an incredible book!

I love anything lighthearted and romantic when I’m traveling! Crazy Rich Asians, The Wedding Date, When Life Gives You Lululemons.  Or Mindy Kaling’s book “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” Or, Amy Poehler’s “Yes Please”.

Best Vacation Reads

Wild Bum Guide Architect Caitlin Ridgeway

The Royal We – it’s such a good book and is about to be developed into a series. The Last Book Party is really cute and light, City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert is probably going to win awards, and Sally Rooney’s Conversations with Friends was both raw and comical. AND – Where the Crawdad Sings and From the Corner of the Oval were two of my favorite summer reads and Our Little Racket is an oldie but a goodie.

I loved the Crazy Rich Asians series. Funny and easy to read on vacation 😊. I also recently read Educated by Tara Westover and The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. They weren’t necessarily light and uplifting, but I couldn’t put them down!

What to Read Right Now

I just read Little Fires Everywhere in less than a day! Also flew through The Last Mrs. Parrish during my last beach vacay 🙂

The Art of Racing in Rain is SO good. Got through it in a day.

We want to hear from you! What are your favorite vacay reads that didn’t make our list? There’s nothing better than some R&R, a good book (and perhaps a margarita in hand!).

Happy #wildbumming.
