Who Loves Shopping While Traveling?

On my recent trip to the Middle East I knew that I was going on a tour loaded with culture and history. I had no clue that it would also include amazing shopping! The infamous shopping gene that I inherited from my mom, who inherited from her mother too. Believe me, the shopping gene is real!

Love Shopping During Travels

Last week I did a poll up on my IG Stories about shopping while traveling. Most of you enjoy the markets and occasionally checking out the shopping malls in a new country. The most important thing we all have in common are the FOOD MARKETS.

Best Food Markets

It’s a feast for the eyes and the belly. You get the best authentic locally made food at the market, in any country, and why do we travel? To experience new cultures, food AND for the shopping, right!?

So go with roomy shopping bags because you can pick up some great deals from the local Markets…especially on amazing leather goods! The Markets in Palestine are cheaper than in Jerusalem, and you are less likely to get ripped off, so it’s best to know that beforehand. Bartering is also part of the culture over here, so best come prepared to fight for what you want.

I’m a 9 on the Enneagram and if you aren’t sure what that means – I am a peacemaker. I hate conflict even if it’s over how much I’m going to pay for a scarf or leather bag. My haggling technique is saying the price I want to pay, walking away and hoping that the seller will agree as I walk away! This trick has worked for me in most of Asia where haggling is part of the culture too.

Have you had to barter for goods before? It’s all part of the experience. Take in the sights, the smells, the interaction with locals and other tourists. Enjoy your experience & happy shopping!
