You Better Belize-It!

Belize has easily become one of our family’s favorite places to travel. In fact, we just visited for third time! If you’re looking for a perfect destination, a Belize vacation is just what you need. Even though Belize is not a huge country, it’s the kind of place where you can get it all. The ocean, islands, fishing and sand in your toes. As well as adventure galore inland where you’ll discover Mayan ruins and villages, zip-lining, river activities and cool caves to explore.
And, the people are incredible. We have had the privilege of meeting some incredible people who want to show off their beautiful country! Don’t be surprised if someone offers you a ride while you’re walking down the street in Placencia. Placencia is a sleepy coastal town that has amazing food! We stayed at Chabil Mar, but Turtle Inn, a Francis Ford Coppola resort, is another incredible option. And, the new Itz’ana, Ka’ana’s sister property, is a gem. We visited before they had finished construction. What a stunning property!

San Ignacio, located inland in the Cayo District, is another vibrant region of Belize. Market day on Saturdays is a fun time to walk around and taste some local food. Get there early! Take your pick of Mayan ruins to explore – expect long bumpy rides – it is part of the adventure! Surely, no matter which of the amazing accommodations you choose, you will be able to explore waterfalls, head out on the river via canoe or just relax and take in the lush scenery!

Ambergris Caye, a short flight from Belize City, is quite developed and a tourist haven. Take your pick of delicious restaurants on the island. Rent a golf cart and go explore. The not-so-secret beach is about the best place to find crystal clear waters and white sand. Or, head out by boat for REAL secret spots! Even Leonardo DiCaprio owns an island off Belize! If you book a fishing excursion, make sure your guide shows you where you can spot it.

Finally – Punta Gorda. The southern part of Belize, less developed known for its fishing and the beautiful Copal Tree Lodge — set high up with incredible views!

Happy Belize #wildbumming!
